Welcome to Episode 51 of Make it Happen Monday!

Published every Monday, this is my weekly video series helping you to blast through any barriers holding up your success in life and business and giving you weekly tips and inspiration to move forward to achieve your goals and dreams.

I was recently listening to a podcast where Tony Robbins interviews a lady named Siri Lindley.

In the episode, Siri, a world champion triathlete, talks about the insane amount of training she had to do to reach her goals.

This episode sent me into a tailspin! Was I doing what I needed to achieve my wildest dreams? Was I limiting myself?

As you may have guessed, I realized I had a lot of work left to do to reach Siri’s standards. And it got me thinking, what are we really willing to do in order to reach the goals we’ve set for ourselves?

What are YOU willing to do to check the goals off your list for good?

We all have dreams and goals. But are we really doing everything possible to achieve them?

An inspiring story

I was listening to a Tony Robbins podcast recently where he was interviewing a lady called Siri Lindley who’s a world champion triathlete.

She didn’t grow up a triathlete. At college she played lacrosse and other team sports, but she didn’t do athletics. She wasn’t even a very good swimmer!

One day she decided that, after college, she really wanted to become a triathlete, despite the fact she had no prior training. Not only that, she was going to be a world champion!

She told her mum, who did the typical mum thing of ‘you can do anything you want to dear’ but who probably took it with a pinch of salt.

Her story is so inspiring because she was so bad at triathlons! No one could believe that she would become a world champion. I really urge you to listen to the podcast – the link is below the video.

What really gripped me was when she talked about the coaches she had previously where she felt she was working really hard. She felt she was working to her absolute limits.

She was then invited to go and train with a well-known coach in the industry. All of a sudden, she realised that her previous training was nothing compared to this.

Where she felt she was already reaching her upper limits and really had pushed herself, now she was pushed another 200% more than she ever thought possible.

Of course it paid off and, sure enough, she became a world champion!

Are you really pushing yourself to your limits?

This made me really sit down and consider my own life and my own goals, and ask myself ‘what are you really willing to do?’

Am I playing full out and giving 100% to achieving my goals?

The answer for me was no!

I’m not doing absolutely every single thing in my power to get out there and achieve my goals.

I’m doing all right. I’ve made a lot of effort, and I’ve got a lot of results, but I am not really playing full out.

This has made me literally change all of my thinking this year. I’ve started thinking about my visions and goals.

I’ve even realised that I have been limiting my dreams! Over the last few years I’ve thought ‘I’m capable of this and capable of that, but I can’t do this and I can’t do that etc’.

I have put self-limiting beliefs on what I believe I am capable of doing. I have lowered the standards of my dreams and my goals that I want to hit.

Thankfully, we don’t want all want to be Olympians or world champion, so I am not asking you to get up at 5am in the morning, cycle 25 kilometres up a hill, run back and then swim for another 5 miles!

But you do have dreams and goals, right? What are you willing to do to achieve your goals?

Because, if we only put 70% in to what we are doing, we’re only going to get 70% out.

If we only put in an hour a day of work, the progress towards our goals will only reflect an hour’s work.

Tony Robbins says ‘life will pay you whatever you ask of it’.

If you read further into that, it also mean that life will give you back whatever you are willing to put in to it.

Didn’t our parents tell us that? You only get out what you put in!

Your challenge!

Your challenge this week, should you choose to accept it, is…

I want you to have an introspective week where you really consider what you are willing to do to achieve your goals. And whether you are really working flat out to reach those goals, or whether you are just coasting along.

1). What is it you want to achieve?

Who do you want to be? Have you really laid out your vision?

Do you really know what it is you want to be, where you are going, and what you are doing?

If you haven’t done this, go and watch my perfect day exercise (I talked about this last week).

Take a day out to complete this exercise, and you will come out with a complete vision who you want to be, where you want to be, and what you want to be doing in a year, 2 years from now etc.

2). Are you willing to do what it takes to achieve the goals you’ve set out in step 1?

What have you got to do in order to make your dreams happen?

You know what it is you want to achieve. You know what your end goal is. You have a vision of yourself; who you want to be, the business you want to run, where you want to be in life, and what it is you want to do.

Are you playing full out to get there?

Are you pushing yourself to hundred percent and beyond in order to achieve your goals?

What is it you are really willing to do? What are you willing to sacrifice, or willing to commit to, to achieve everything you want to achieve?

Are you willing to get up earlier in the morning or go to bed later at night? Are you willing to work through the night to get what you want to get?

Are you willing to move out of your comfort zone? Are you willing to approach people that you think you could not approach?

3). Get out there and, as always, make it happen!
