Welcome to Episode 50 of Make it Happen Monday!
Published every Monday, this is my weekly video series helping you to blast through any barriers holding up your success in life and business and giving you weekly tips and inspiration to move forward to achieve your goals and dreams.
I started 2016 with a goal: get serious about my health.
Almost 365 days later I can safely say that I succeeded in my goal.
I’ve lost 40lbs, have so much more energy than I’ve had in years and feel GREAT!
How did I accomplish this?
I used a method that has helped me master my goals and start living my life as the person I want to become instead of the person I already am.
I want to share this method with you and help you make the most of the coming year.
In this week’s Make It Happen Monday, I’m talking about how to get everything you want in 2017.

Happy Boxing Day!
I hope you’ve had a lovely Christmas. As you’re watching this, I’ll be in the chilly South of England visiting family and friends, and enjoying leftover turkey!
Now, for all my viewers in the US, you may be thinking, “What’s Boxing Day?”
For Brits, Boxing Day is the day after Christmas Day, and it’s something that comes from way back in the 17th century.
All the servants who waited on their masters on Christmas Day would receive a box the following day. This box would contain a gift, money, food etc. The day became known as Boxing Day.
Fast forward to the 21st century, and it’s now a huge shopping day – very similar to Black Friday in the States.
The perfect time for reflection
Even for those of you who don’t have Boxing Day, for entrepreneurs all over the world, this is the time of year for reflection.
Time to sit back and think about our business and what we want to achieve in the year ahead.
2016 has been interesting for me, both personally and professionally.
By the end of 2015, I had lost my mojo. I was working too hard, I had all these launches, courses and marketing to do, and I burned myself out.
My resolution for 2016 was to give up alcohol, reduce my sugar intake, focus on heath, lose some weight, and get fitter.
I now eat almost no sugar, I’ve cut down on dairy, I’ve had no alcohol since 31st December 2015, I do yoga most mornings, and I’ve lost 40 lbs (about 18 kilos).
I feel healthier now than I have done in years! I’m more more productive, more energetic…. and I’m going into 2017 with a new lease of life!
Even if health isn’t your primary goal moving forward, I urge you to spare some focus for it in 2017. Especially as a busy entrepreneur.
You have enough to deal with, without fighting against your own body. Any tiredness you feel, demotivation, lack of energy etc, may not be a lack of interest in your business, or ‘stress’, it might simply be too many toxins running around your body and sapping your mental & physical energy & strength.
Unless your body supports you with the energy and brain power you need, you are going to find it tough and a struggle, just like I did.
In a few weeks I will do a video with my coach who will go through really simple things you can do that can make a dramatic difference to your energy levels and how you feel on a daily basis.
This is without it taking up any more of your precious time, something I know we all struggle with!
But here’s the power in todays episode. How did I achieve the goals I set for myself?
I use an incredibly powerful strategy which you may have heard me describe before.
Before you head into 2017, please read through and execute todays challenge. I can’t tell you how powerful this exercise is, so step away from the turkey and get dreaming! :)
Your challenge this week, should you choose to accept it, is…
I want you to do this life changing ‘perfect day’ exercise, between Christmas and New Year, before you start your 2017 and go back to your routines:
1). Go somewhere quiet where you can be alone.
You want no distractions, no itinerary etc. Ideally you should give yourself a day, but make sure you give yourself at least 2-3 hours.
You can be with someone, but make sure it is someone you completely trust and can be open and honest with.
You can also use things like music, yoga, or a particular location – whatever and wherever that inspires you.
2). Ask yourself, if there were no circumstances whatsoever, where would you be and WHO would you be a year from now.
What if there were no family commitments? No issues with money, time, location, work etc?
If nothing could stand in your way in achieving your goals and dreams, where would you be, but more importantly, WHO would you be?
I’m a very different person to who I was a year ago. Back then, I was a tired, 40lbs heavier, my body was inflamed, I had no energy or motivation….all my get up and go had got up and went!
Now I feel lighter, younger, energetic, happier, and more excited about life. I’m a different person!
So I don’t want you to just concentrate on where you want to be, but WHO you want to be.
Don’t allow yourself to procrastinate because there’s all these videos to watch. Skip right to the last video which is all about doing your perfect day exercise in step by step detail.
If you want, you can come back to the other videos when you have more time.
3). Go through your perfect ‘average’ day.
I don’t want to call it a ‘perfect day’ as you may think of an absolute perfect day, as in having a ten course breakfast, then a day at the spa etc.
What I want you to think of is your AVERAGE perfect day.
Where are you? Who are you with? Where do you live? What is your house like? What have you got around you? Who do you talk to? How do you feel?
What is your routine? What do you go out and do this morning?
Who are you working with? Who are your clients? What’s your day made up of? What do you do in the afternoon? What do you do in the evenings?
What conversations do you have? What are you doing that you are absolutely loving, enjoying and sucking the juice out of?!
This is your chance to get rid of any kind of reality surrounding you right now and dream!
In a year from now, where would you really like to be? And WHO would you like to be?
4). Write down your average perfect day in present tense.
Write it as if it is the 31st Dec 2017, and this is what has happened in your life this year.
This is what has occurred, this is where I am right now, this is what my day ahead looks like, this is what I’m going to do, this is who I am, this is how I feel etc.
This gives you a real picture in your mind of exactly where you want to be in a years’ time.
5). Put the pictures in your mind into a picture board.
This is the real magic! Take those images in your mind and put it into a picture board. This is what one of the slides from my picture board looks, if you’re interested.
All I did was take pictures off the internet that reflect the things that I want. I created little mind maps in the middle with all the different things I wanted to do, and then I put these pictures around the mind maps.
I then put this onto a Keynote or PowerPoint presentation, printed it off, and this will go up around my desk. It is something I can look at every day to remind myself why I am doing what I am doing.
Every day we are greeted by things and people that distract us, annoy us, make us unhappy, demotivate us, and suck out our energy.
All sorts of things may happen in life that can take us off track. We need to remind ourselves constantly of why it is we are doing what we are doing.
If you are an auditory person, just take the sheet of paper you used to write down who you would be in a years’ time, and record yourself in your own voice.
Now, you have a podcast to yourself – make sure you listen to it every morning!
The key thing here is we all set resolutions and goals at the start of the year. But it is about consistently seeing, hearing, watching and reviewing what it is that we want that ensures we take the actions necessary to move in the right direction.
Now, you may get to the end of next year and you’ve not achieved everything you want.
I haven’t lost as much weight as I wanted to. But gosh I feel amazing about what I have achieved! I’ve moved so much closer to my goals than I was a year ago.
Don’t worry about not achieving everything.
If you are focusing on your goals every single day of the week by seeing it on a picture board, or hearing it on your own podcast to yourself, you will subconsciously take the actions necessary to move you closer to those goals.
So make sure, in between stuffing yourself with food and enjoying the holidays, you do this life changing exercise.
What else can I do?
See the comments below? Tell me your thoughts, dreams, goals, and things you are excited about in 2017 – I’d love to hear from you!
Please share with your friends if you think this Make It Happen Monday episode has been useful.
Have a phenomenal rest of the holiday period and, as the next video will come out after New Year, HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE!
Even though it’s Christmas, remember to still live life on purpose, and Make It Happen!
